Connector Piece, Replacing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench (5-60 Nm) (VAG 1783)

Open end spanner insert AF 10 (VAG 1783/1)

Air hose pliers (VAS 6228)

If connector leaks, if air line is long enough, it can be shortened by 10 mm and a new connecting piece installed.

Before disconnecting an air line connection, clean the connection area.

Contaminants entering the lines can lead to system malfunction.

- Clean the connector piece area.

- Remove the connector piece and air line.

- Remove the cutting ring from the air line.

- Using the (VAS 6228), cut the air line behind the pressure point from the cutting ring at right angle.





- Then mark air line ends in vehicle with a waterproof pen.

With 17 mm or 22 mm markings, check whether connector piece is inserted far enough in air line.

- Always replace the connector piece.

Always observe tightening specification!

- Install the new connector piece by hand and tighten.

Only remove the transport protection caps - 2 and 3 - after the connecting air line - 4 -.





- Route the air line with appropriate clips/grommets in vehicle. Replace the cut cable ties if necessary.

- Remove the transport protection - 2 and 3 -.

- Slide the air line - 4 - in with some force as far as the stop in the connector piece - 1 -.

Air lines are installed correctly when only one of the two markings is visible - arrow A -.
