Component Group 1
Component Group 1
1 - Diagnostic Connection
• Perform On Board Diagnostic (OBD) on A/C system using Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in "Guided Fault Finding".
2 - Accelerator Mechanism
• The request for the kick-down shut-off by the Climatronic control module (J255) / or the A/C control module (J301) kick-down switch-off, via the A/C compressor regulator valve (N280) is made by the engine control module. The data is exchanged via the Data bus. The current condition can be seen in the measured values block of Climatronic control module or A/C control module using Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in "Guided Fault Finding" (for the A/C system and engine control module).
3 - Left Footwell Vent
4 - Left Front Seat Temperature Sensor (G344) and Left Front Heated Seat (Z45)
• Seat heater is not installed in all vehicles (optional equipment).
• Vehicles with automatically regulated A/C system: activation of seat heater is displayed in measured value block of Climatronic Control Module (J255) , check using Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in "Guided Fault Finding".
• Vehicles with manually regulated A/C system: function and activation of seat heater, check Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in "Guided Fault Finding".
• Seat heating, servicing.
• From MY 2009, as a running change, the Climatronic control module (or control modules for seat heating) is being installed, whereby the specified temperature is set to a lower characteristic line. Refer to Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in "Guided Fault Finding" and to the Electronic Parts Catalog.
5 - Left Vent Temperature Sensor (G150) /
• Not installed on vehicles with manually regulated A/C system.
• Removing and installing, refer to=> [ Left Vent Temperature Sensor (G150) ] Left Vent Temperature Sensor (G150).
6 - Defroster Vent
• Side window/driver side.
7 - Instrument Panel Vent, Left
8 - Instrument Cluster Control Module (J285)
• With Outside Air Temperature Display (G106).
• The control module inside the instrument panel evaluates the measured value from the Outside air temperature sensor (G17) and then transmits it via the Data bus to the Climatronic control module (J255) , or the A/C control module (J301). Check using Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in "Guided Fault Finding".
• The Climatronic Control Module calculates the current outside temperature from the outside temperature received and sends it back to the Instrument Cluster Control Module. Ambient temperature sent by Climatronic control module is displayed in Outside air temperature display (G106). If the temperature display if faulty, check the measured values of the temperature sensor (vehicles with automatic A/C) using Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in "Guided Fault Finding".
• Vehicles with manually regulated A/C system: the temperature that is calculated by Instrument Cluster Control Module due to the measured value of Outside Air Temperature Sensor (G17) is displayed in Outside Air Temperature Display (G106).
9 - Left Center Instrument Panel Vent
• Removing and installing instrument panel vents, refer to=> [ Instrument Panel Vent ] Instrument Panel Vent.
10 - Right Center Instrument Panel Vent
• Removing and installing instrument panel vents, refer to=> [ Instrument Panel Vent ] Instrument Panel Vent.
11 - Climatronic Control Module (J255) / A/C Control Module (J301)
Climatronic Control Module (on vehicles with automatically regulated A/C system)
• Different versions (with a button for "automatic air recirculation" or an OFF button, without or with seat heater control, with and without radio navigation system or radio with large control panel). Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Climatronic Control Module (J255) ] Climatronic Control Module (J255).
• Instrument Panel Interior Temperature Sensor (G56) is integrated in the Climatronic Control Module.
• Interior Temperature Sensor Fan (V42) is installed in the Climatronic Control Module, however it cannot be replaced individually. Refer to=> [ Interior Temperature Sensor Fan (V42) ] Interior Temperature Sensor Fan (V42).
• Also observe additional notes for Climatronic Control Module. Refer to=> [ Climatronic Control Module (J255) ] Climatronic Control Module (J255).
• Guided fault finding of the Climatronic Control Module is to be performed as described using Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in "Guided Fault Finding".
• Buttons and display fields are illuminated by Light Emitting Diodes (LED), cannot be replaced.
• Different versions on vehicles with and without fresh air intake duct temperature sensor (G89).
• From model year 2006, the fresh air intake duct temperature sensor has been gradually discontinued, on vehicles without this temperature sensor, only the Climatronic Control Module (J255) with part number as of index M is or may be installed.
• On vehicles without fresh air intake duct temperature sensor, a Climatronic Control Module (J255) with part number up to index L installed enters a DTC into the DTC memory.
• To the end of model year 2007, the Airflow door motor (V71) is being discontinued as a running change, on vehicles without the Airflow door motor (V71) the air flow door (fresh air door) is actuated via a curved washer and lever of the Recirculation door Motor (V113). Refer to=> [ Recirculation Door Motor (V113) ] Recirculation Door Motor (V113). Therefore note the correct allocation of the Climatronic Control Module (J255) , if the allocation or the adaptation is not OK this is detected during basic setting and stored as a malfunction. Refer to=> [ Climatronic Control Module (J255) ] Climatronic Control Module (J255) and Electronic Parts Catalog.
• From MY 2009, as a running change, the Climatronic control module (J255) is being installed, whereby the specified temperature is set to a lower characteristic line. Refer to Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) in "Guided Fault Finding" and to the Electronic Parts Catalog.
