Rear Lid, Adjusting
• The gas-filled struts must be attached before installing a new rear lid.
- Remove the rear lid end piece trim panel.
- Loosen combination nuts - 1 - and - 3 -, striker - 2 - must be adjustable.
- Note different versions.
• When installing a striker, make sure it is in the proper installation position, for this the tab - arrow - must point to the rear.
Adjustment Buffer
- Adjustment buffer secured on body-side with bolts.
- Tighten bolts - 3 - to 8 Nm when installing.
- The bolts - 3 - are included with the adjusting buffer.
- Height adjustment is to be performed via adjusting screw - arrow -.
Adjusting Buffer
- Clip on protective cap - 1 -.
- Adjustment buffer, upper section - 2 -.
- Adjustment buffer, lower section with threads - 3 -.
- When first installing, tighten lower section to 15 Nm TORX(R) ((T30)).
- Before adjusting rear lid, screw in upper section of buffer completely.
- Tighten nuts - 1 - and - 3 - by hand.
- Close rear lid and align with body contour.
- Rear lid lock must be engaged in main detent (2nd lug) during this.
- Open rear lid in this position and tighten nuts - 1 - and - 3 - to 21 Nm.
- Check whether rear lid closes easily and without play at lock.
- If necessary, repeat adjustment.
- Turn the adjusting buffer - 3 - just enough so that the stop buffers - 2 - on the rear lid - 1 - touch the adjusting buffers when the lid is closed.
- Lower section of adjusting buffer - 3 - screwed into side panel - 4 - to 15 Nm TORX(R) (T30).
- Check whether lid sits without play by pushing or pulling on the side edge of rear lid below rear window.
- If necessary screw out adjusting buffer on hex head.
- Check whether rear lid still closes easily, repeat adjustment at adjusting buffer if necessary.
- If rear lid only closes with difficulty, screw in adjusting buffer slightly at hex head.
