Front Seat With Faulty Forward/Back Adjustment Motor
Front Seat with Faulty Forward/Back Adjustment Motor
Removing
• Removing the driver seat is described. Removing the passenger seat is identical.
Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.
- Bring headrest into lowest lock position.
- Move the seat as far up as possible.
- The seat cannot be moved as far up as possible, disconnect the upper frame from the seat pan lower frame. Refer to => [ Seat Pan, Disassembling and Assembling ] Seat Pan, Disassembling and Assembling.
• The sill side trim - 1 - is removed. Refer to => [ Sill Side Trim ] Sill Side Trim.
- Remove the bolts - 3 - for the cross bar - 2 - on both sides.
- Disconnect the electrical connector on the seat forward/back adjustment motor.
- Move seat until bolts - 4 - (quantity: 4) are visible.
- Remove the bolts - 4 -.
- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition off.
Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors at the connector station in the floor. Refer to => [ Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting.
- Connect the (VAS 6235) to the side airbag electrical connector on the seat. Refer to => [ Airbag Adapter, Connecting ] Airbag Adapter, Connecting.
- Raise the seat with a 2nd technician and remove it from the vehicle.
Installation
• Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- If the forward/back adjustment motor is motor: Install la new lower seat pan frame with forward/back motor. Refer to => [ Seat Pan, Disassembling and Assembling ] Seat Pan, Disassembling and Assembling.
Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:
- Remove (VAS 6235) only after installing seat. Refer to => [ Airbag Adapter, Connecting ] Airbag Adapter, Connecting.
• Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.
- Connect the connector to the couplings on the connector station in the floor. Refer to => [ Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on.
• If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.
