Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair






Tiptronic Switch

The Tiptronic switch (F189) is integrated into the printed circuit board. The printed circuit board is located under the shift mechanism cover.

It consists of 3 Hall sensors that are controlled by 2 magnets on the cover strip transverse slide.

To replace Tiptronic switch, circuit board must be replaced.

In addition, make sure the magnets on the cover strip transverse slide are properly secured; replace the cover strip transverse slide if necessary.

Removing

- Remove cover for shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism Cover ] Selector Mechanism Cover.

- Press down retaining hooks - arrows - toward the inside and pull off cover - 2 - from guide - 1 -.





- Make sure two magnets on the cover strip transverse slide fit correctly - arrows -.





- Remove printed circuit board - 1 - with the integrated tiptronic switch (F189) from cover - 2 -.





Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

- Install printed circuit board - 1 - with the integrated Tiptronic switch (F189) into cover - 2 -.

- Install cover for shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism Cover ] Selector Mechanism Cover.

- Install selector lever handle.
