Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
Tiptronic Switch
• The Tiptronic switch (F189) is integrated into the printed circuit board. The printed circuit board is located under the shift mechanism cover.
• It consists of 3 Hall sensors that are controlled by 2 magnets on the cover strip transverse slide.
• To replace Tiptronic switch, circuit board must be replaced.
• In addition, make sure the magnets on the cover strip transverse slide are properly secured; replace the cover strip transverse slide if necessary.
Removing
- Remove cover for shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism Cover ] Selector Mechanism Cover.
- Press down retaining hooks - arrows - toward the inside and pull off cover - 2 - from guide - 1 -.
- Make sure two magnets on the cover strip transverse slide fit correctly - arrows -.
- Remove printed circuit board - 1 - with the integrated tiptronic switch (F189) from cover - 2 -.
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
- Install printed circuit board - 1 - with the integrated Tiptronic switch (F189) into cover - 2 -.
- Install cover for shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism Cover ] Selector Mechanism Cover.
- Install selector lever handle.
