Input Shaft
• Removing and installing gear wheels, 3rd through 6th gear, is described under Disassembling and Assembling Transmission. Refer to => [ Transmission, Assembly Sequence ] Transmission, Assembly Sequence.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Feeler Gauge
Removing the Roller Sleeve from the Input Shaft and Installing
Removing the roller sleeve:
- Open the roller sleeve - arrow B - just enough so that it is possible to remove the input shaft.
Install the roller sleeve:
• The shoulder - arrow A - must face the 2nd gear spline.
- Open the roller sleeve - arrow B - just enough so that it is possible to guide it over the input shaft and onto the seat - arrow C -.
Inserting Spring into Selector Gear
The bent end of the spring - arrow - must be hooked into the hole in the selector gear.
Checking Synchronizer Ring for Wear
- Press the synchronizer ring into the locking collar and measure the gap - a - with a Feeler Gauge in positions - A -, - B - and - C -.
- Add measured values and divide by 3.
• Determined value must not exceed 0.45 mm.
Installation Position of Circlips
• Circlips - 1 - and - 2 - secure the input shaft ball bearing.
Determining thickness. Refer to => [ Input Shaft, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
• The circlip - 3 - secure the 3rd gear needle bearing and the 3rd/4th gear synchronizer hub.
Thickness 2.00 mm.
• Circlip - 4 - secures the synchronizer hub 3rd and 4th gear.

• Synchronizer hub pressed on all the way
- Determine thickest circlip which can still just be installed and insert it.
