Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Camshaft Position Sensor

For the locations of the four camshaft position sensors, refer to => [ Component Locations Overview ] Component Locations Overview.

Removing

- Disconnect the electrical connector on the respective camshaft position sensor.

- Remove the air filter lower section to remove the camshaft position sensor 3 (G300) on cylinder bank 1. Remove the lower section of the air filter. Refer to => [ Lower Air Filter Housing ] Lower Air Filter Housing

- Remove the coolant reservoir to remove the camshaft position sensor 4 (G301) on cylinder bank 2.






- Disconnect the electrical connector to the engine coolant level warning switch (F66) on the bottom of the coolant reservoir and lay the reservoir aside with the coolant hoses - 1 and 2 - and - 3 - attached.

Installing

- Replace the O-ring and lubricate it with clean engine oil.

- Press the camshaft position sensor in carefully by hand.

- Tighten the camshaft position sensor and connect the electrical connector.

- Further installation is performed in reverse order.
