Wiper Arm, Adjusting
Wiper Arm, Adjusting
Procedure
• If the windshield wiper motor is to be run during this procedure, the hood must be closed, otherwise the voltage supply of the wiper motor will be interrupted.
- Remove the wiper arms. Refer to => [ Wiper Arms ] Wiper Arms.
- Turn on the ignition.
- Activate the "one-touch wiping" and let the wiper motor run to the end position.
• Every second time the wiper motor is turned off, it returns the wiper arms to a slightly lower rest position, thus tipping the wiper blade lips the other way.
• To do so, the wiper motor moves the wiper arms farther down than to the rest position and then a bit up again. This lower rest position must not be used to adjust the wiper crank.
• Only use the end position where the wiper arms run directly to the end position with no under stroke. Activate "one-touch wiping" again if necessary.
- Turn off the ignition.
- Position the wiper arm with wiper blade, installed at the wiper axis and align the wiper blade at the windshield as follows:
• Dimension - a - = 0 + 10 mm.
• Dimension - b - = 0 + 10 mm.
• The dimensions give the distance of the wiper blade tips to the cowl panel trim on the lower edge of the windshield.
- Tighten the nuts - 2 - for the wiper arms - 1 -.
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Wiper System Overview ] Wiper System Overview.
- Turn on the ignition.
- Operate the "one-touch wiping" and let the wiper arms run to the end position.
- Turn off the ignition.
- Check the adjustment of the wiper arms again, correct if necessary.
- Install the caps - arrows - onto the wiper arms.
