Seat Depth Adjuster
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim Removal Wedge (3409)
Removing
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Remove the front seat:
• Manual sport seat, refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seat ] Manual Standard Front Seat.
• Power sport seat and super sport seat, refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seat ] Power Standard Front Seat.
- Attach the front seat to the (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seats, Installing on the ] Front Seats, Installing on the Fixture For Seat Repair (VAS 6136).
- Equipment level with storage compartment: remove the storage compartment. Refer to => [ Storage Compartment ] Storage Compartment.
- Remove trim. Refer to => [ Trim, Seat Depth Adjustor ] Trim, Seat Depth Adjustor.
- Move the seat depth adjuster all the way forward - arrow -.
- Unclip the tabs - 2 - using a (3409).
- Swivel the support with the seat cushion and seat cover - 1 - for the seat depth adjuster upward so that the tabs - arrow A - and - arrow B - remain unlocked.
• The illustration shows the upholstery disengaged.
- Remove the support with the seat cushion and seat cover for the seat depth adjuster upward and toward the front.
- Disengage the tabs - arrow C - on the seat depth adjuster - 2 - and move the support with the seat cushion and seat cover upward.
- Lay the support - 2 - with the seat cushion and seat cover on the front seat.
• The illustration does not show the seat pan lower frame.
- Remove the cushion retaining channels - 1, 3, 4 - across and at the sides from the seat depth adjustor.
- To do this, unclip the retaining channels - 1 - and - 2 - in the direction of the - arrow - out from the tabs - 3 -.
- Remove the bolts - 1 -, - 2 - and nuts - 3 - from the seat depth adjuster.
- Unclip the tabs - 1 - and - 3 - using a (3409).
- Remove the seat depth adjuster - 2 - from the lower seat frame upward and forward - arrows -.
- Disengage the tabs - 4 - from the lower seat frame while doing this.
- Remove the seat depth adjuster from the front seat.
Installing
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
To secure the new bolts, also install nuts on the seat pan side.
- Install a nut - 3 - on the seat pan side of each bolt - 1, 2 - to secure the bolts after installing them.
• Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.
• If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
