Fuel Level Sensor 2, Checking
Fuel Level Sensor 2, Checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Hand-held multimeter (V.A.G 1526C)
• Connector test set (V.A.G 1594C)
Procedure
- Remove rear seat bench.
- Unbolt cover for right locking flange - arrows -.
- Disconnect electrical harness connector - arrow - at locking flange.
- Connect multimeter between terminal - 3 - and - 4 - for resistance measurement.
Fuel Level Sensor 2 (G169) installed:
• Sensor at lower stop: approximately 790 to 975 ohms.
• Sensor at upper stop: approximately 50 to 86 ohms.
• If measured value is 0 ohms there is a short circuit. If measured value is infinite ohms there is and open circuit in the wiring.
• To check resistance values "tank full" or "tank empty", the fuel level sensor 2 must be removed and the sensor floater must be placed in upper or lower end position. Refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor 2 ] Fuel Level Sensor 2.
• With fuel gauge sender removed, the following values are obtained because of the greater deflection of the floater arm:
Fuel level sensor 2 removed:
• Sensor at lower stop: approximately 1004 ohms.
• Sensor at upper stop: approximately 50 ohms.
Assembly is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Install rear seat bench.
