Left Front Exhaust Pipe with Catalytic Converter
Removing
- Remove the rear engine cover - 2 - upward.
- Remove bolt - arrow -.
- Disconnect the electrical connector to the engine coolant level (ECL) warning switch (F66) on the bottom of the coolant reservoir and lay the reservoir aside with the coolant hoses - 1 - and - 2 - attached.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 2 - for the Oxygen Sensor (O2S) 2 after Catalytic Converter (G131) and free up the electrical wire downward.
• Ignore - 1 -.
- Remove nut - 2 - accessible from above from front exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold connection.
• To provide a better illustration, component location is shown from behind with engine removed.
- Remove the left front wheel.
- Remove the noise insulation, to do this, loosen the fasteners - 1, 2, arrow -.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the front transverse beam.
The decoupling elements in the front muffler could be damaged.
• Do not bend decoupling elements in front muffler more than 10°.
- Remove the bolts - 1 - on the rear bracket for the exhaust system.
• Ignore items - 2 and 3 -.
- Remove nuts - 1 - and - 3 - (accessible from the bottom) from front exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold connection.
• To provide a better illustration, component location is shown from behind with engine removed.
- Loosen the left clamping sleeve - 1 - and push it rearward.
- Remove the left front muffler together with the catalytic converter.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Muffler Overview ] Muffler Overview.
• Replace the seals and self-locking nuts.
• During installation, all cable ties must be installed at the same location.
• The wires for the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) must be attached at the same location to prevent them coming into contact with the exhaust pipe.
- Install the front transverse beam and noise insulation.
- Install exhaust system free of stress. Refer to => [ Exhaust System, Installing ] Service and Repair.
- Install the front wheels.
