^ Fuel gauge shows less fuel than accurate.

^ Fuel gauge decreases faster than expected when tank is full.

^ Spontaneous refilling request when half full.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

Inaccurate calibration of the fuel gauge display.

SERVICE

Tip: To prevent an incorrect fuel gauge display and a potential tow-in, adaptation channel 30 must be changed only if one or more of the above conditions apply.

1. Use Guided Fault Finding (GFF).

Tip: Self-diagnosis will not provide all necessary services.

2. Read adaptation channel 30 of the dash insert (address code 17).

^ If the value is below 120:

a. Change value to 128.

b. Verify proper function of the fuel gauge display in the IP cluster.

^ If the value is 120 or higher:

a. Do not change the adaptation value.

b. With the vehicle full of fuel, read out MVB 7 and 8 in the IP cluster (address 17) via GFF before contacting TACS. Do not perform tests at the fuel senders.

c. Open a TACS ticket with the condition and MVB reading, and follow the instructions.
