Wiper Control Module: Service and Repair
Windshield Wiper Motor with Wiper Motor Control Module
Observe notes on contact corrosion. Refer to => [ Contact Corrosion ] Service Precautions.
• The wiper motor control module (J400) is integrated in the windshield wiper motor.
Removing
- Remove rubber seal - 1 -.
- Remove plenum chamber cover - 2 -.
- Remove wiper arms. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms ] Windshield Wiper Arms.
- Remove bolts - arrows - for cowl grille - 1 - at left and right.
CAUTION!
Danger of damaging the cowl grille.
• Coat the space between the windshield and the cowl grille with some soapy water.
- Carefully remove the cowl grille - 1 - starting at the edge of the glass from the windshield vertically.
- Remove bolts - arrows -.
- Remove E-Box cover in left plenum chamber.
- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove wiper frame completely.
- Disconnect electrical connector - 1 -.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Install wiper motor with wiper frame in vehicle, to do so observe the following tightening sequence:
- Hand-tighten center bolt.
- Tighten outer bolts, then tighten center bolt at wiper frame.
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Adjust wiper arms. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting ] Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting.
