Communication System

Display

Removing and installing the front information display control head (J685) is divided into the following:

Removing the display: the display is faulty/the swivel unit is OK.

Removing the swivel unit and the display: the display is OK/swivel unit OK.

Removing the swivel unit and the display: the display opening/closing motor (V301) is faulty/the swivel unit is not OK.

Display, Removing

- Switch off all electrical consumers.

- Remove the key.

Removing

The display is closed.

- Remove the right and left instrument panel vents from the display.

- Remove the trim from the front information display control head (J685).

- Loosen both screws - 2 - and - 3 - (2 Nm) in the swivel unit - 1 -.





- Open the display with the front display open/close button (E462).

- Remove the display from the swivel unit and disconnect the connectors from the display.

If will not be possible to remove the display if both screws are not loosened enough.

Installing

- Install in reverse order.

Swivel Unit with Display, Removing

Removing the swivel unit with display: the display is OK/the swivel unit is OK

Procedure for removing the swivel unit with display due to body repair

The display must be open in order to remove the swivel unit with display.

- Switch off all electrical consumers.

- Remove the key.

Removing

- Remove the right and left instrument panel vents from the display.

- Remove instrument cluster panel.

- Remove the trim above the glove compartment.

The connector for the display opening/closing motor (V301) is located behind the driver side storage compartment.

- Remove the driver side storage compartment.

- Disconnect harness connector to Open-Close Display Motor (V301).

- Remove the screws - arrows - (3 Nm) from the swivel unit.





- Remove the swivel unit - 1 - from the instrument panel - 2 -.

- Disconnect the connector on the display.

Installing

- Install in reverse order.

Faulty Swivel Unit with Display, Removing

Removing the swivel unit with display, the display opening/closing motor (V301) is faulty/the swivel unit is OK

Procedure for removing a faulty swivel unit or the swivel unit is not working correctly or it is locked up.

- Switch off all electrical consumers.

- Remove the key.

Removing

- Remove the right and left vents from the screen.

- Remove instrument cluster panel.

- Remove the trim from the front information display control head (J685).

- Remove the trim above the glove compartment.

The connector for the display opening/closing motor is located behind the driver side storage compartment.

- Remove the driver side storage compartment.

- Disconnect harness connector to Open-Close Display Motor (V301).

Vehicles with Emergency Release

The release cable - 3 - is located on the left side of the right vent opening.





- Pull the cable in - direction of arrow - and slide the trim - 2 - into the instrument panel with the other hand until the display - 1 - is completely folded out.

- Remove the screws - arrows - (3 Nm) from the swivel unit.





- Remove the swivel unit - 1 - from the instrument panel - 2 -.

- Disconnect the connector on the display.

Remove the display from the swivel unit.

- Remove screws - arrows - (2 Nm).





Vehicles without an Emergency Release

The swivel unit cannot be removed when the display is closed. It will be necessary to break the swivel in order to remove it from the instrument panel.

Be careful not to scratch the display. It will be used again.

- Pry the trim - 2 - out of the swivel unit - 1 -.





- Try to move the swivel arm - 3 - with a screwdriver so that the display opens. Break the swivel arm - 3 -, if necessary.

- Remove screws from the display (2 Nm).

- Remove the display from the swivel unit.

- Disconnect the connector on the display.

- Remove the swivel unit from the instrument panel.

Installing

Installing the display in the new swivel unit

- Install the display - 1 - in the swivel unit - 2 -.





- Tighten the screws - arrows - to 2 Nm.

Installing the swivel unit with the display

- Install the swivel unit with display in reverse order of removal.
