ESP Component Overview, Bosch 5.7






1 - ABS Hydraulic Unit (N55) with ABS Control Module with EDL (J104)

• The hydraulic control unit is comprised of the hydraulic unit and control unit.

• Do not disconnect connector (42-pin) before successfully completing self-diagnosis. Switch ignition off before separating connector.

• Component location: On the hydraulic unit in engine compartment, left side.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Hydraulic Unit, Bosch 5.7 ] Service and Repair.

2 - Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201)

• Attached to hydraulic subframe.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Brake Pressure Sensor 1 ] Service and Repair.

3 - ASR/ESP Button (E256)

• Component location: In center console.

4 - Transverse Acceleration Sensor (G200) and Rotation Rate Sensor (G202)

• Combined in one housing.

• Component location: under center console extension.

• Can be checked in Guided Fault Finding with Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 505x).

• Observe installation instructions. Refer to => [ Transverse Acceleration Sensor and Rotation Rate Sensor ] Service and Repair.

5 - Traction Control Indicator Lamp (K86)

• Component location: In the instrument cluster.

• See owner's manual for more information.

6 - ABS warning light (K47)

• Component location: In the instrument cluster.

• See owner's manual for more information.

7 - Brake System Warning Lamp (K118) Symbol

• Location in instrument cluster in Driver Information System

• See owner's manual for more information

8 - Parking Brake Pressure Switch (F234)

• Component location: in center console

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Parking Brake Button ] Service and Repair

9 - Steering Angle Sensor (G85) with ESP

• Component location: Installed in coil ring with slip ring on steering column.

• Perform zero adjustment with Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 505x).

10 - Wheel Bearing/Hub Unit

• The ABS sensor ring is installed in the wheel bearing.

11 - Right/Left Rear ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (G44/G46)

• Can be checked in Guided Fault Finding with Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 505x).

• Replacing, refer to => [ ABS Speed Sensor, Rear Axle ] ABS Speed Sensor, Rear Axle.

12 - Diagnostic Connection

• Component location: Cover in driver footwell.

13 - Brake Light Switch - F - and Brake Pedal Switch (F47)

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Brake Light Switch ] Service and Repair.

• Can be checked in Guided Fault Finding with Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 505x).

14 - Wheel Bearing/Hub Unit

• The ABS sensor ring is installed in the wheel bearing.

15 - Right/Left Front ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (G45/G47)

• Can be checked in Guided Fault Finding with Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 505x).

• Replacing, refer to => [ ABS Speed Sensor, Front Axle ] ABS Speed Sensor, Front Axle.

16 - Brake Fluid Level Warning Switch (F34)

17 - Tandem Brake Booster
