Pneumatic Level Control System

Pressure Reservoir

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench (5-50 Nm) (VAG 1331)

Torque wrench (5-60 Nm) (VAG 1783)

Open end spanner insert AF 10 (VAG 1783/1)

Removing

The pressure reservoir is installed above the left rear muffler.

- Place the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on the Hoist and on its Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on the Hoist and on its Wheels.

- Vent the system. Refer to => [ System Venting or Filling ] Level Control System.

- Remove the rear portion of the exhaust system.

- Remove the heat shield from the left of the vehicle underbody below the pressure reservoir.

- Slowly loosen the air line - 1 - on the pressure reservoir - 2 - and allow the air pressure to escape. When the air pressure has escaped, remove the air line - 1 -.





- Remove the nuts - arrows - and the pressure reservoir - 2 -.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Observe the following when doing so:

- Install the pressure reservoir - 2 - and tighten the nuts - arrows - to 9 Nm.





- Tighten the air line connection on the pressure reservoir - 1 - to 5 Nm.

- Switch on the ignition.

- Switch the "vehicle lift mode" off. Refer to => [ Vehicle Lift Mode ] General Information, or the Owner's Manual.

- Fill the system using the (VAS 5051A). Refer to => [ System Venting or Filling ] Level Control System.

- Install the heat shield on the left of the vehicle underbody below the pressure reservoir.

- Install and adjust the exhaust system free of stress.
