Drive Pinion Overview

Replace both tapered roller bearings at the same time.

Install the new tapered roller bearing and do not oil it.

Place the rear final drive in the assembly stand => [ Place the Rear Final Drive in the Assembly Stand ] Drive Pinion

* It is necessary to perform an adjustment if these parts are replaced. Refer to => [ Adjusting Overview ] Pinion and Ring Gear, Adjusting.





1 Nut

• Removing => [ Removing the Pinion Nut ] Drive Pinion

• Installing => [ Pinion Nut, Tightening and Friction Torque, Adjusting ] Drive Pinion

• Measuring the friction torque => [ Friction Torque, Measuring ] Drive Pinion

• Securing => [ Pinon Nut, Securing ] Drive Pinion

2 Driveshaft Flange

• Remove => [ Removing the Flange ] Drive Pinion

• Installing => [ Flange, Installing ] Drive Pinion

3 Seal

• Removing => [ Removing the Seal from the Driveshaft Flange ] Drive Pinion

• Installing => [ Driveshaft Flange Seal, Installing ] Drive Pinion

4 O-ring

• Always replace

• Installing the gear oil => [ O-ring, Installing ] Drive Pinion

5 Inner Race/Small Tapered Roller Bearing*

• Removing the pinion => [ Removing the Pinion from the Inner Race/Tapered Roller Bearing ] Drive Pinion

• Installing => [ Installing the Inner Race/Small Tapered Roller Bearing ] Drive Pinion

6 Outer Race/Small Tapered Roller Bearing*

• Removing => [ Removing the Outer Race/Small Tapered Roller Bearing ] Drive Pinion

• Installing => [ Installing the Outer Race/Small Tapered Roller Bearing ] Drive Pinion

7 Spacer Sleeve*

• Always replace

8 Rear Axle Housing*

9 Shim S3

• Write down the thickness

• For the adjustment overview, refer to => [ Adjusting Overview ] Pinion and Ring Gear, Adjusting

10 Large Outer Race/Tapered Roller Bearing*

• Removing => [ Removing Outer Race/Large Tapered Roller Bearing ] Drive Pinion

• Installing => [ Installing the Outer Race/Large Tapered Roller Bearing ] Drive Pinion

11 Inner Race/Large Tapered Roller Bearing*

• Removing => [ Removing the Inner Race/Large Tapered Roller Bearing ] Drive Pinion

• Installing => [ Installing the Inner Race/Large Tapered Roller Bearing ] Drive Pinion

12 Pinion*

• Paired with the ring gear

• Replace both
