Instrument Cluster Button in Cover
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim removal wedge (3409)
• Hook (3438)
Removing
- Adjust steering wheel downward and to rear as far as possible, use entire adjustment range of steering column adjustment for this.
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Carefully remove trim panel from instrument panel - arrows - using Trim Removal Wedge (3409).
- Open coin tray.
- Slide trim for coin tray to left out of fastener - arrow - and detach.
- Open glove box.
- Starting above glove box, use Trim removal wedge (3409) to carefully remove trim panel with switch module from instrument panel.
• Take particular care when releasing clip at driver side end of trim panel.
- Unplug connector.
- Turn air vent knurled wheel - 3 - on left next to instrument cluster insert fully upwards.
- Above bottom slat - 2 -, insert jeweller's screwdriver - 1 - into each of the air vent clips.
- Alternately pull left and right side of air vent out of installation opening, leaving jeweller's screwdrivers in position.
• If necessary, use Hook (3438) to pull air vent out of installation opening.
- Disconnect electrical harness connector at air vent.
- Repeat procedure at air vent on right next to instrument cluster.
- Remove screws - arrows -.
• Use adhesive tape to affix cloth to protect steering column trim and steering arms.
- Unclip air vents from trim and unplug connectors at air vents.
- Disconnect electrical connectors on instrument cluster cover.
- Engage turn signal indicator switch in lower switch position.
- Activate "one-touch wiping" function and remove instrument cluster cover in this wiper switch position.
- Remove screws - arrows -.
- Detach buttons - 1 - and - 2 -.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- When inserting trim panel - 1 - with switch module, ensure the two fasteners in the center of the panel are inserted between instrument panel and monitor housing - arrows -.
