Multiport Fuel Injection
OBD, General Information
• The Engine Control Module (ECM) is equipped with a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory.
• The DTC memory should be checked before every repair or every fault finding session.
• Check the vacuum hoses and connections (unmetered air).
• Fuel hoses in the engine compartment must only be secured with spring type clips. The use of clamp or screw type clips is not permissible.
• For the electric components to work properly, a voltage of at least 11.5 volts is required.
• Do not use sealants containing silicone. Particles of silicone drawn into the engine, will not be burnt in the engine and will damage the oxygen sensors.
• The vehicles have a crash fuel shut off. This function reduces the risk of a fire during a collision because the fuel pump relay switches the fuel pump off.
• This setup also makes it easier to start the engine. The fuel pump runs for approximately 2 seconds when the driver door opens to build pressure in the fuel system. Refer to the applicable safety precautions, refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Multiport Fuel Injection.
