Wheel Hub, Bearing and Housing Assembly Overview





1 Wheel Bearing Housing

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing ] Removal and Replacement.

2 Self Locking Nut

• Always replace.

• There are different version of the self locking nut

3 Bolt

4 Bolt

• Tightening specification, see - item 7 - in => [ Power Steering Gear Assembly Overview ] Power Steering Gear Assembly Overview.

• For adjusting toe constants "S", refer to => [ Front Toe Constant S, Adjusting ] Front Toe Constant S, Adjusting

5 Nut

• Tightening specification, see - item 9 - in => [ Power Steering Gear Assembly Overview ] Power Steering Gear Assembly Overview.

6 Wheel Bearing

• Disassembling and assembling, refer to => [ Wheel Hub and Bearing ] Front Suspension.

7 Slide Washer

• Always replaced together with the wheel bearing - item 6 - or the wheel hub - item 8 -.

8 Wheel Hub

• Replacing, refer to => [ Wheel Hub and Bearing ] Front Suspension.

9 Wheel Hub with Bearing

• Consists of the wheel bearing - item 6 -, slide washer - item 7 - and wheel hub - item 8 -.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Wheel Hub and Bearing ] Wheel Hub and Bearing.

10 Bolt

• Always replace.

• Follow the correct sequence when loosening and tightening. Refer to => [ Drive Axle ] Drive Axle and to => [ Installing ] Drive Axle.

• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Installing ] Drive Axle.

11 Cover Plate

12 Bolt, 10 Nm

13 Drive Axle

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Drive Axle ] Drive Axle.

• Triple roller joint disassembling and assembling, refer to => [ Drive Axle with Peened Triple Roller Joint AAR 3300 i ] Drive Axle With Peened Triple Roller Joint AAR 3300 i.

• Outer joint disassembling and assembling, refer to => [ Outer Constant Velocity Joint ] Outer Constant Velocity Joint.

14 Bolt, 70 Nm

• Pre-tighten to 10 Nm in a diagonal sequence.

15 Bolt

16 Cover

17 Bolt, 8 Nm

18 Wheel Speed Sensor

19 Bolt, 80 Nm + 90° additional turn

• Always replace.

20 Bolt, 50 Nm + 180° additional turn

• Always replace.

• Applies to armored vehicles, there are different bolt versions

• The additional angle must be performed in steps.

• Coat the bolt and the hole in the wheel bearing housing with grease before installing.

21 Bolt, 50 Nm

• Not for armored vehicles, there are different bolt versions

22 Washer

• Not installed on armored vehicles
