• Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
Procedure when "buttons are stuck"
If one or more buttons in Multimedia Control Head (E380) become stuck, it may be the result of soiling from crumbs, grains of sand or something similar.
Contamination (buttons are stuck) from sticky fluids (e.g. cola) cannot be eliminated with compressed air. In this case, the Multimedia Control Head (E380) must be replaced.
- As first step try to eliminate malfunction by applying compressed air (with or without oil) to clean the buttons. If this is not successful, the Multimedia Control Head (E380) must be replaced.
Removing
Multimedia Control Head (E380) is fastened with bolts to the center console panel.
- Remove center console panel.
- Disconnect all harness connectors.
First remove the Driver Identification Control Module (J589):
- Rotate panel on to the rear side.
- Using a suitable tool, pull retaining pin - 2 - out of Driver Identification Control Module (J589) - 1 - in - direction of arrow -.
- Remove bolt - 5 - (1 Nm) and pull out Driver Identification Control Module (J589) downward.
Now remove the Parking Brake Contact Switch (F321):
- Unscrew bolts - 3 - (1 Nm) and pull Parking Brake Contact Switch (F321) - 2 - downward out of Multimedia Control Head (E380) - 1 -.
- Now remove Multimedia Control Head (E380) from the panel.
- Remove bolts - 3 - (1 Nm).
- Pull Multimedia Control Head (E380) - 2 - upward off the panel - 1 -.
Removing Interior Access/Start Authorization Antenna 1 (R138):
- Turn Multimedia Control Head (E380) - 1 - on to the rear side and loosen bolt - 3 - (1 Nm).
- Remove Interior Access/Start Authorization Antenna 1 (R138) - 2 - from Multimedia Control Head (E380) - 1 -.
Installing
- Install in reverse order.
