Instrument Cluster

Removing

Do not disassemble instrument cluster.

- If the instrument cluster was replaced with the instrument cluster control module (J285), select the "Replace" function for the corresponding control module in the "Guided Fault Finding" or "Guided Functions" operating mode with Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051B).

- Select the function or path:






- Follow the instructions on the Vehicle Diagnosis Tester display.

- Adjust steering wheel downward and to rear as far as possible, use entire adjustment range of steering column adjustment for this.

- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

- Remove the left trim.

- Remove the trim with the right switch strip.

- Remove the vent in the instrument panel.

- Remove screws - arrows -.





Use adhesive tape to affix cloth to protect steering column trim and steering arms.

- Unclip air vents from trim and unplug connectors at air vents.

- Disconnect electrical connectors on instrument cluster cover.

- Engage turn signal indicator switch in lower switch position.

- Activate one-touch wiping function and remove instrument cluster cover in this wiper switch position.

- Release clips - arrows - on left and right and pull instrument cluster slightly away from instrument panel.





- Swivel instrument cluster to rear and pull out towards driver's side between steering wheel and instrument panel.

- Release catches of connectors - 1 -, turn retainer in direction of arrow and unplug connector.





- Remove instrument cluster.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

- Install the instrument panel vent.

- Install the trim with the right switch strip.

- Install the left trim.

If the instrument cluster control module (J285) was replaced, it must be coded again with the (VAS 5051B).

- Select the function or path:






- Follow the instructions on the Vehicle Diagnosis Tester display.
