AFFECTED VEHICLES

CONDITION





The customer may report that after switching on the ignition and the headlights following the reference run, one headlight is sporadically adjusted lower then the other headlight.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

Only vehicles with adaptive headlights and cornering lights are potentially affected.

The condition may occur due to a voltage drop below 9.5V at the voltage regulator during the reference run. This voltage drop is more probable when the steering wheel is fully turned to the left or right and the cornering light is activated.

PRODUCTION SOLUTION

Improved software for the dynamic headlight range control module J 431 with AFS.

SERVICE

1. Note the coding of 55 - dynamic headlight range control module J 4331. The coding may be lost during the software update.

2. Perform a software update of the dynamic headlight range control module J 431 (Address word 55) using the SVM action code as listed in the table below.





3. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.

4. Restore the coding of 55 - dynamic headlight range control module J 431 to the value you noted in step 1.
