General Information






Telephone System

The telephone system consists of the following components:

Cell phone preparation (CAN)

The telephone transceiver (R36) is integrated in the infotainment system (radio) via the CAN-bus. It also has a bluetooth antenna (R152).

Operation is performed via the radio (R) or the cellular telephone (R54).

Microphones for microphone unit (in front roof module) (R164) are integrated in the front interior light (W1). One microphone is connected (left front microphone (R140)) with the telephone transceiver (R36).

Cell phone preparation in the information electronics control module 1 (J794) (MMI)

Operation is performed via the MMI infotainment system or the cellular telephone.

Microphones for microphone unit (in front roof module) are integrated in the front interior light. On microphone (left front microphone) is connected directly to the information electronics control module 1.

Bluetooth hand-free setup in the information electronics control module 1 (MMI)

The information electronics control module 1 is installed with the microphone unit in front roof module and is part of the hand-free setup. Bluetooth connect the cell phone.

The Bluetooth antenna is integrated in the information electronics control module 1.

Bluetooth setup (CAN)

The telephone transceiver is installed with the microphone unit in front roof module/bluetooth antenna and is part of the hand-free setup. Bluetooth connect the cell phone.

The bluetooth antenna is attached to the telephone transceiver.

Fault finding is performed via guided fault finding -> Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.

Notes on Bluetooth technology

Bluetooth technology, a standardized radio connection, is used to transmit data between the telephone transceiver and the telephone handset/cell phone.

There is an additional transceiver unit in the telephone transceiver /information electronics control module 1. A Bluetooth antenna connects the telephone transceiver/information electronics control module 1 and the cellular telephone wireless.

The range of the radio wave connection is approximately 10 meters.
