Terminal 58s

Terminal 58s

Additional Components

Headlamp Switch (E1)

Rain/Light Recognition Sensor (G397) (special equipment)

Function

The terminal 58s button illumination depends on the status of the vehicle exterior illumination. The parking lamp (terminal 58) must at least be on.

The following switch-on conditions are possible:

The headlamp switch (E1) must be either in the parking lamp position of the low beam position.

When the headlamp switch (E1) is turned to AUTO, the rain/light recognition sensor (G397) recognizes the darkness.

The headlamp switch (E1) is turned to AUTO, the ignition is turned on and the fog lamp button (E315) is pressed. The parking lamp and the low beam come on automatically when the fog lamp is turned on.

The headlamp switch (E1) is turned to AUTO, the ignition is turned on and the fog lamp button (E314) is pressed. The parking lamp and the low beam come on automatically when the fog lamp is turned on.

When the daytime running lamps as well as the rain/light recognition sensor are on terminal 58s will not be on.

Terminal 58s will turn off at the very latest 30 minutes after the ignition is turned off to prevent draining the vehicle battery. Opening the driver door, turning the ignition on and off as well as turning off the exterior lamps will reset the time and terminal 58s will remain on for another 30 minutes. The timer runs out, then terminal 58s switches on again for 30 minutes.

The PWM signal from the vehicle electrical system control module (J519) illuminates the following components (if installed):

Headlamp Adjuster (E102)

Left Rear Heated Seat Regulating Switch (E128)

Right Rear Heated Seat Regulating Switch (E129)

Sunroof Regulator (E139)

Rear Window Shade Switch (E149)

ASR/ESP Button (E256)

Garage Door Opener Control Head (E284)

Interior Lighting Switch (E317)

Left Rear Reading Lamp Switch (E454)

Right Rear Reading Lamp Switch (E455)

Driver Reading Lamp Button (E457)

Front Passenger Reading Lamp Button (E458)

Valet Parking Lock Button (E536)

Electromechanical Parking Brake Button (E538)

Cigarette Lighter Illumination (L28)

Socket Illumination (L42)

Left Instrument Panel Vent Illumination Bulb (L67)

Center Instrument Panel Vent Illumination Bulb (L68)

Right Instrument Panel Vent Illumination Bulb (L69)

Temperature Control Switch Illumination Bulb (L93)

Telephone Base Plate (R126)

LEDs in the interior lamp/front reading lamp

All other illumination, which is connected to terminal 58s, are controlled by the control modules based dimming values received by the CAN or LIN Bus.

Service Information

As long as the headlamp switch (E1) is set to AUTO and the front or rear fog lamps are on, the exterior lamps will not turn off automatically because the rain/light recognition sensor (G397) is still recognizing the outside brightness information.

Terminal 58s is controlled by an actuator test in the vehicle electrical system control module (J519).

The dimming value of terminal 58s cab be displayed in the vehicle electrical system control module (J519) measured values block.
