Affected Vehicles

Condition

^ Audi Music Interface (AMI) is inoperative and devices such as iPods or USB sticks are not recognized when properly connected to an appropriate adapter cable.

After a vehicle CAN bus sleep cycle, the AMI functions properly again.

^ DTC 02078 (media player position 3 no signal/communication) is sporadically stored in the Gateway (address word 19).

^ Only vehicles with the CAN-based generation 3 radio (PR# 8UQ/8YN) and Audi Music Interface (PR# UF7) are affected.

Technical Background

Under certain circumstances the AMI control unit may not properly wake up after the CAN bus sleep and therefore it is not recognized by the Gateway. When this occurs, no communication with the AMI control unit is possible.

Production Solution

Improved Audi Music Interface (R199) software.

Service

1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.
