Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 10 - 13 dated April 23, 2010 for reasons listed below.

Affected Vehicles

Condition
^ The customer complaint is that there is no sound from all sources.

^ Only Concert/Symphony III CAN radios (PR 8UQ/8YN) with Bang and Olufsen Premium Sound system (PR 9VK) are affected.

^ In the Amplifier J525 (address word 47), DTC 00003 (Control Module Faulty) may be stored.

Technical Background

In certain rare circumstances (e.g. discharged vehicle battery, engine off, radio playing at high volume and/or bass levels, very cold weather) it is possible for battery voltage at the amplifier to briefly drop below 9 Volts. When this occurs, the amplifier software temporarily switches the amplifier off. If the condition occurs 3 times, DTC 00003 is stored and the amplifier is permanently switched off.

Production Solution

Optimized amplifier software.

Service

1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.

2. Update the amplifier J525 using the SVM action code as listed in the table above if necessary. This update will delete the DTC entry in the amplifier and the sound will again be available. The new software prevents the DTC from setting due to low voltage conditions.
