Condition
The customer complaint is that Secure Digital (SD) memory cards are not recognized by the radio.

Technical Background
Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) cards with storage capacities from 4 GB to 32 GB have been developed. When they are released, Secure Digital Extended Capacity (SDXC) cards will allow storage capacities of up to 2 TB.

Higher capacity SDHC and SDXC cards cannot be read by the current Concert or Symphony (Generation 3) radio.

Radios developed for SDHC compatibility (for use in vehicles from Model Year 2010) cannot be used in earlier model year vehicles, as they cannot be activated via SVM.

Production Solution
SDHC cards can be used from model year 2010 in the Concert or Symphony (Generation 3) radio.

Service
Check cards to ensure they are standard SD cards (up to 4 GB memory capacity) and not cards of SDHC SDXC format.

A radio replacement will not eliminate this condition, as the radio is operating as described in the Operating Instructions manual.
