Service

Check ElsaWeb to determine which Criteria Codes are applicable to the VIN.

Tip:

When multiple updates will be performed, please note the time units allow for connecting the tester only once. Do not disconnect the tester until all relevant updates have been performed.

Tip:

If Criteria 02 and 08 are applicable, replace the bulbs while the 3G MMI is being reflashed.

Criterion 02: 3G MMI update and Re-documentation via SVM Code 91E6B001

Tip:

For successful results, the steps must be performed in this sequence.

1. Check 3G MMI software version

2. Update software of 3G MMI system

3. Perform feedback documentation to the SVM

1. Check 3G MMI software version

1. Switch on ignition and wait approximately 1 minute.

2. Press the SETUP and RETURN buttons simultaneously and hold both buttons down for about 5 seconds.

If this message is displayed, the system is not yet completely initialized. Wait a few seconds, then press the RETURN button.

3. Read current 3G MMI train (Zug) version.

4. The train (Zug) version listed in the table above must be updated.

P versions are production build.

K versions are service updates.

2. Update 3G MMI software

1. Connect an approved Audi battery maintainer / charger to vehicle.

2. Switch off all unnecessary electrical equipment (blower, seat heater, interior light, etc.).

Tip:

Also make sure that no electromagnetic interference sources (mobile phone) are operated in or near the vehicle while individual control units are being updated.

Tip:

For complete and detailed instructions for the 3G MMI update, refer to TSB 2021162/1. (Note: These instruction are generic. Some portions may not apply to this specific RVU. importing and exporting customer code data is not necessary for this 3G MMI update.)

3. Insert update CD into the 3G MMI main (head) drive unit located in the center of the instrument panel.

4. Start the software update.

5. after the software update has been performed confirm the ":Abort (cancel) documentation" selection. The 3G MMI will restart. Then perform the feedback documentation.

3. Perform feedback documentation to the SVM with SVM code 91E6B001

1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.

2. Confirm any proposed parameter settings and coding.

3. Then perform test program "5F - Information electronics, resetting fault memory" to clear any faults in the system.

Tip:

No control unit is flashed as part of the feedback documentation to the SVM. Do not perform any updates of control units. Do not replace any control units.

Criterion 08: Replacement bulb and spec-actual via SVM Code 91E6B001

1. Remove both left and right rear taillight assemblies that are mounted in the bumper.

2. Using a hand file, remove the embossed text "W5W" from left and right side parking light bulb holders.

3. Install new 3-watt side parking light bulbs (N 017 752-2) into the respective bulb holders.

4. Apply tape to the wire harness near the taillight assembly mounting boss to prevent wires from being pinched during re-installation of taillight assembly.

5. Reinstall both rear taillight assemblies.

6. Perform a parameterization of the comfort convenience control unit J393 (address word 46) via spec-actual utilizing GFF. Please note that the parameterization may have already been performed during a previous repair.

Criterion 09: Software update for ECM via SVM Code 91E6B001

1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.

2. Update the ECM using the SVM action code as listed in the table above if necessary.
