Condition
^ MIL on.
^ One of the following DTCs will be stored:
^ DTC P0016 (Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 1 Sensor A).
^ DTC P0017 (Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 1 Sensor B).
^ DTC P0018 (Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 2 Sensor A).
^ DTC P0019 (Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 2 Sensor B).
^ If DTC P0016 is stored, DTC P0087 (Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low) may also be stored.
^ A slight power reduction may be associated with this condition.
This condition does not cause stalling.
Technical Background
Cam adjuster solenoid may be contaminated.
Production Solution
Optimized production process.
Service
1. If P0016, P0017, P0018, or P0019 is stored, disassemble the corresponding camshaft adjustment valve (N205, N318, N208 or N319).
2. Swap the solenoid with a solenoid from the other bank.
^ If the DTC is now set on the bank where the solenoid is installed, the solenoid is inoperative. Replace the solenoid. Make sure the cylinder head opening for the solenoid is clean.
3. If no obstruction is found and condition persists, open a new warranty claim and follow Guided Fault Finding.
Tip: If P0087 is stored in conjunction with P0016, P0087 may have been set by an incorrect cam position, which can be caused by an inoperative cam solenoid. Please first repair P0016 and only follow GFF for P0087 if it persists.
