Condition

^ Airbag light is on.

^ DTC B101612 (Front Passenger's Airbag Disabled Indicator Lamp Short to B+) is sporadically set in the airbag control unit.

Technical Background

This condition is created when the airbag control unit is diagnosing the state of the passenger airbag disabled indicator lamp and the interior light dimming is set between 95% and 99% of the maximum brightness. The airbag control unit is too sensitive under these conditions and can falsely set DTC B101612.

This issue is intermittent and can be difficult to reproduce due to its dependency on vehicle voltage, the state of the interior dimming circuit, and the timing of the airbag control unit's diagnosis of the passenger airbag disabled indicator lamp.

This condition does not affect the functionality of the airbag nor does it affect the functionality of the passenger airbag disabled indicator lamp.

Production Solution

Optimized airbag control unit software was introduced into production.

Service

1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.





2. Update the Airbag Control Module (J234) using the SVM action code as listed in the table above if necessary.
