Service
Tip: For successful results, the steps must be performed in this sequence.
1. Check 3G MMI system software version
2. Update software of the 3G MMI system
3. Perform feedback documentation to the SVM
1. Check 3G MMI system software version
1. Switch on ignition and wait approximately 1 minute.
2. Press the SETUP and RETURN buttons simultaneously and hold both buttons down for about 5 seconds.
If this message is displayed, the system is not yet completely initialized. Wait a few seconds, then press the RETURN button.
3. Read current MMI train (Zug) version.
4. The train (Zug) versions listed in the table below must be updated.
P versions are production build.
K versions are service updates.
2. Update software of the 3G MMI system
1. Connect an approved Audi battery maintainer/charger to vehicle.
2. Switch off all unnecessary electrical equipment (blower, seat heater, interior light, etc.).
Tip: Also make sure that no electromagnetic interference sources (mobile phone) are operated in or near the vehicle while individual control units are being updated.
Tip: For complete and detailed instructions for the 3G MMI system update, refer to the attached instructions. (Note: The attached instructions are generic. Some portions may not apply to this specific TSB. Importing and exporting customer code data is not necessary for this 3G MMI update system.)
3. Insert update CD into the 3G MMI main (head) drive unit located in the center of the instrument panel.
4. Start the software update.
5. After the software update has been performed, confirm the "Abort (cancel) documentation" selection. The 3G MMI system will restart. Then perform the feedback documentation.
3. Perform feedback documentation to the SVM
1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.
2. Confirm any proposed parameter settings and codings.
3. Then perform test program "5F - Information electronics, resetting fault memory" to clear any faults in the system.
Tip: No control unit is flashed as part of the feedback documentation to the SVM. Do not perform any updates of control units. Do not replace any control units.
