Right Flange Shaft
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Needle Bearing Drift (VW 295)
• Slide Hammer (VW 771)
• Retainer (3419)
• Oil Collecting And Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)
• M10 nut, quantity: 2
• Sealing grease (G 052 128 A1)
Removing
- Remove right front wheel.
- Remove right drive axle cover - 1 - in the wheel housing.
- Remove bolts - arrows - and the right drive axle heat shield.
- Remove right drive axle from the transmission flange shaft and move it back.
- Place Used Oil Collection and Extraction Device (V.A.G 1782) under transmission.
- Install the threaded eye from the Counterhold Tool (3419) in a threaded hole on the right flange shaft with two M10 nuts - 1 -.
- Position the Multipurpose Tool (VW 771) with the (VW 771/13) on the threaded eye and remove the flange shaft.
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
• Replace the right flange shaft circlip.
- Clamp flange shaft in vise, using jaw protectors. Press circlip with new circlip - A - out of flanged shaft groove.
- Fill area between sealing lip and dust lip halfway with Sealing Grease (G 052 128 A1).
- Drive the right flange shaft in using the Needle Bearing Drift (VW 295).
- Check the transmission oil lever in the final drive and fill if necessary. Refer to => [ Front Final Drive and Transfer Case, Checking Transmission Oil Level and Filling ] Front Final Drive and Transfer Case, Checking Transmission Oil Level and Filling.
