Shift Mechanism Emergency Release

• When the battery is disconnected or has been discharged, the selector lever cannot be shifted out of the "P" position. The vehicle cannot be moved or towed.

• By operating the manual release the Shift Lock Solenoid (N110) will release the selector lever when there is no power supply.

Procedure

- Remove front ashtray insert.

- Pry cover cap in the ashtray housing out using a screwdriver - arrow -.





• The shape of the cover caps may differ from the illustration.

- Carefully press in the cylinder - arrow - on the Shift Lock Solenoid (N110) using a screwdriver through the center opening in the ashtray housing. While doing this, shift the selector lever out of the "P" position while the locking button is pressed.





• In this way, the selector lever lock is released in position "P" via the locking lever - 1 -.

• If the cylinder - arrow - on the Shift Lock Solenoid (N110) is partially covered by insulation or a wire, press it to the side.
