Shift Mechanism Emergency Release
• When the battery is disconnected or has been discharged, the selector lever cannot be shifted out of the "P" position. The vehicle cannot be moved or towed.
• By operating the manual release the shift lock solenoid (N110) will release the selector lever when there is no power supply.
Procedure
- Remove the front ashtray insert.
- Pry the cover cap in the ashtray housing out using a screwdriver - arrow -.
• The shape of the cover cap may differ from the illustration.
- Carefully press in the cylinder - arrow - on the shift lock solenoid (N110) using a screwdriver through the center opening in the ashtray housing. While doing this, shift the selector lever out of the "P" position while pressing the locking button.
• In this way, the selector lever lock is released in the "P" position via the locking lever - 1 -.
• If the cylinder - arrow - on the shift lock solenoid (N110) is partially covered by insulation or a wire, move it to the side.
