Rear A/C Display Control Head (E265)

Rear A/C Display Control Head (E265)

Pressing and holding the buttons on the Climatronic control module (J255) or rear A/C display control head for an extended period of time (for example, setting an object down on them) can cause an entry in the DTC memory due to stuck buttons. If necessary, check the function of the buttons and erase the DTC memory if no malfunction is found.

The rear A/C display control head exists in different versions. Therefore note the correct allocation when replacing a rear A/C display control head. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog.

From model year 2010, the Climatronic control module with part number 4L0 919,158 from index AA will be installed as a running change. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog. When replacing the rear A/C display control head pay attention the to the correct allocation of the Climatronic control module (for example, with or without the Setup button). If the allocation is incorrect, it will not be possible to display and select several functions on the A/C system.

At this time, the component safeguard function is not in effect on the rear A/C display control head (introduction of this function has not yet been finalized). Check using Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS5051 in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

The selected functions are displayed by illuminated LEDs in the various buttons of rear A/C display control head.

Display fields and control buttons on rear A/C display control head are illuminated by Light Emitting Diodes (these LEDs cannot be replaced).

If a new rear A/C display control head was installed and Basic Setting was not performed, A/C system controls are restricted and this is displayed as a malfunction in DTC memory. Check using Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding".

After replacing the Climatronic control module, always perform basic setting, check adaptation and check DTC memory of A/C system using Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding".

At this time, the rear A/C display control head is not coded (vehicle-specific settings are performed here via the Adaptation function). At the start of production, rear A/C display control head units were installed on which a coding is indicated; this coding can also be modified, however it does not take effect and has no influence over A/C system regulation.
