A/C Components Inside Passenger Compartment

A/C Components Inside Passenger Compartment

If there is a malfunction in the system, first check DTC memory of the Climatronic Control Module (J255) (and of Rear A/C Display Head (E265) ) using the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding".

If no malfunction is indicated, read out measuring value block of the Climatronic control module and actuate any faulty component via the "output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)" function of the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding".

Servicing operations on A/C system that are possible without opening refrigerant circuit, refer to => [ Component Overview ] Component Overview.

Servicing operations on A/C system that require the refrigerant circuit to be opened, refer to => [ Refrigerant Circuit, Servicing ] Refrigerant Circuit, Servicing.

The electrical test for various actuators, potentiometers and sensors is described in Guided Fault Finding of the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

Perform the following work after completion of repair operations:

- Check DTC memory of the Climatronic control module (and of rear A/C display head) and erase any DTCs displayed using the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS5051 in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

- Check coding of the Climatronic control module using the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS5051 in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

- If necessary, check adaptation of the Climatronic control module and of Rear A/C display head (not installed in all vehicles, optional equipment) using the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS5051 in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

- Perform basic setting of A/C system via the Climatronic control module and Rear A/C display head (not installed on all vehicles, optional equipment) using the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding".

To improve illustration, the arrangement of A/C system components in the passenger compartment has been divided into four illustrations.

- Arrangement of components on left side, refer to => [ Front A/C Components In Passenger Compartment (Left Side) ] Front A/C Components In Passenger Compartment (Left Side).

- Arrangement of components on right side, refer to => [ Front A/C Components In Passenger Compartment (Right Side) ] Front A/C Components In Passenger Compartment (Right Side)

- Arrangement of components at rear, refer to => [ Rear A/C System Components ] Rear A/C System Components.

- Auxiliary heater heating element (Z35) ) removing and installing refer to => [ Auxiliary Heater Heating Element ] Service and Repair, checking refer to => [ Auxiliary Heater Heating Element, Checking ] Testing and Inspection.

Starting with MY 2009, certain vehicles with a 6 cylinder TDI engine without an auxiliary heater, have an auxiliary air heater heating element installed depending on the emissions standard (running change depending on the engine).
