Four-Way Lumbar Support






Four-Way Lumbar Support

Removal and installation is the same on the driver and passenger seat.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Pop Rivet Pliers (V.A.G 1753A)





Removal

CAUTION!
Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity ". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Remove seat:

Manual seats, refer to => [ Seat ] Manual Seats.

Power seat, refer to => [ Seat ] Power Seats.

- Secure the seat on the (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Installing Seat On VAS 6136 ] Installing Seat on VAS 6136.

- Remove backrest cover panel. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover ]. Backrest Cover

- Using a screwdriver, pry the clamping strips - 2 - out.





- Remove cover with upholstery, refer to => [ Backrest Cover and Upholstery ] Seat Covers and Upholstery.

- Drill out rivet - 3 -.

- Disengage release - 3 - from retaining plate - 2 -.





- Open cable tie - 1 -.

- Guide the release out of the bracket - 4 -.

- Disengage release - 2 - from four-way lumbar support - 3 -.





- Disengage the release from the clip - 1 -.

- Disengage the four-way lumbar support - 3 - at the top left and right from the clips - 2 - and the backrest frame - 1 - and remove it.





Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

CAUTION!
Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity ". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.

- Before riveting lumbar support, place a plastic washer - 4 - between lumbar support - 1 - and backrest frame - 2 -.





3 Rivet

- Switch on ignition.

CAUTION!
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on.

If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.
