Parking Brake System: Adjustments
Parking Brake, Adjusting
• Applies to steel and ceramic brakes.
• The parking brake adjusting nut is under the center console behind the parking brake lever.
• The parking brake cables must be engaged in the respective parking brake caliper.
• The parking brake cables must be routed without tension.
• The rear wheels must be installed.
• The adjusting nut must be installed on the relay rod.
• For parking brake cable zero adjustment, both rear wheels must turn freely.
• The parking brake lever must go back into the zero position by itself under the first detent.
• When adjusting the parking brake, it may be raised a maximum of 2 degrees.
• Before adjusting the parking brake, engage the parking brake lever five times as far as the stop so all the parking brake components are positioned correctly.
- Release parking brake.
- Remove center console trim.
- Install the adjusting nut on the compensator and tension the parking brake cables.
- Raise the vehicle until the rear wheels are free.
• A light braking effect on the rear wheels must be noticeable in the first parking brake lever detent.
- After adjusting, engage and release the parking brake three times.
- With the parking brake released, check if both wheels can be turned freely.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the center console trim.
