Engine, Securing to Engine and Transmission Holder
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Lifting Tackle (3033)
• Engine and Transmission Holder (VAS 6095) with V8 FSI Engine Holder (VAS 6095/1-6A)
• Shop Crane (VAS 6100)
• Lift Arm Extension For Workshop Crane (VAS 6101)
Procedure
• Engine-transmission assembly removed and separated on the Scissor Lift Table (VAS 6131 A) => [ Engine and Transmission, Separating ] Engine and Transmission, Separating.
- Remove electrical connectors from bracket and disconnect:
1. For Oxygen Sensor (O2S) 2 Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G131)
2. For Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2 (G108)
3. For Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) (G39)
4. For Oxygen Sensor (O2S) Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWO) (G130)
- Free up electrical wires to oxygen sensors.
- Remove nuts - 6 through 1 - and the left exhaust manifold with catalytic converter.
- Remove nuts - 6 through 1 - and the right exhaust manifold with catalytic converter.
- Remove the left and right bolts - arrows - and the heat shield.
• The illustration shows the installation location on the right engine mount instead.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 4 - on the Left Electro-Hydraulic Engine Mount Solenoid Valve (N144).
- Remove bolt - arrow - and the left engine mount.
- Remove bolts - 1 through 3 - and the left engine support.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 4 - on the Right Electro-Hydraulic Engine Mount Solenoid Valve (N145).
- Remove the bolt - arrow - and the right engine mount.
- Remove bolts - 1 through 3 - and the right engine support.
- Engage Lifting Tackle (3033) in engine lifting eyes and in Shop Crane (VAS 6100) with Lift Arm Extension/Workshop Hoist (VAS 6101) as shown in illustration.
- Raise the engine off the Scissor Lift Table Mounting Elements (VAS 6131 A).
- Secure the engine to the Engine and Transmission Holder (VAS 6095) using the bracket for V8 engine (6095/1-6A) and tighten to 40 Nm, as show in the illustration.
