Heating and Air Conditioning: Adjustments

Drive Plate with Overload Protection, Checking Run-Out and Adjusting

Procedure





- Remove the A/C compressor, refer to V8 => [ Compressor ] Compressors or V10 => [ Compressor ] Compressors.

- Clean the flange at the drive plate - A -.

- Secure a dial gauge - B - with a dial gauge holder - C - (such as Dial Gauge Holder (VW 387)) to the A/C compressor.

- Set probe of dial gauge - D - on flange of drive plate - A - with a pre-tension of approximately 1.0 mm.

- Turn the compressor drive unit - E - several rotations.

• Specification: The rotation deviation is less than 0.21 mm (dial gauge run-out).

• Maximum difference between the smallest and largest measured value: maximum 0.2 mm.

- If run-out deviation is greater than 0.2 mm, loosen bolts on drive plate, refer to => [ Drive Plate with Overload Protection ] Compressors and re-adjust drive plate.
