Oxygen Sensors

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Ring Spanner 7-Piece Set (3337)

Removing

- Remove the engine compartment trim - 1 - or - 3 -. Refer to => [ Engine Compartment Trim ] Engine Compartment Trim.





- Remove the engine cover - 2 -.

- Remove the air filter housing bolts - arrows -.

- Remove the air guide hoses - 1 - and - 6 - from the air filter housing.





- Disconnect the electrical connector - 3 - for the mass airflow sensor 2 (G246) and connector - 5 - for the mass airflow sensor (G70).

- Loosen hose clamps - 2 - and - 4 - and remove the air filter housing.

- Remove the electrical connectors from the bracket and disconnect:





1. For oxygen sensor 2 after catalytic converter (G131)

2. For heated oxygen sensor 2 (G108)

3. For heated oxygen sensor (G39)

4. For oxygen sensor after three way catalytic converter (G130)

- Free up electrical wires to oxygen sensors.

- Remove the heated oxygen sensor (G39) - 2 - using a tool from the (3337).

- Remove the oxygen sensor after three way catalytic converter (G130) - 1 - using a tool from the (3337).

Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 (G108) before Catalytic Converter and Oxygen Sensor 2 after Catalytic Converter (G131) Cylinder Bank 2 (left):





- Remove the engine compartment crossmember.

• The installation location is shown with the engine removed.

- Free up electrical wires to oxygen sensors.

- Remove the heated oxygen sensor 2 (G108) - 1 - using a tool from the (3337).

- Remove the oxygen sensor 2 after catalytic converter (G131) - 2 - using a tool from the (3337).

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Oxygen Sensors Assembly Overview ] Oxygen Sensors Assembly Overview.

• New oxygen sensors are coated with assembly paste; the paste must not get into slots of oxygen sensor body.

• For a used oxygen sensor, only coat threads with hot bolt paste. This paste must not come into contact with sensor slots.

• Electrical wire of oxygen sensor must always be secured in the same position when installing so that contact with the exhaust pipe is avoided.

• During installation, all cable ties must be installed at the same location.

- Install the engine compartment crossmember.

- Install air filter housing. Refer to => [ Air Filter Housing ] Air Filter Housing.

- Install the engine compartment trim.
