CONDITION
The yellow gearbox warning light is on.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

Diagnostic software is too sensitive and sets DTC U0146 or U0100 in the gearbox control unit.

These faults should not cause a drivability concern or stalling concern.

PRODUCTION SOLUTION

Modified software for gearbox control unit introduced in 2010 model year production

SERVICE

If the gearbox control unit has either DTC U0146 or U0100 stored, check the software part number and data level of the TCM.

If the TCM software part number is 420910156C, then the DTC was stored due to a software error. Update the gearbox control unit with SVM code 4201A005.

The ECM and TCM software are designed to work with each other. For this reason you must update both ECMs and the TCM via SVM.

SVM Update Instructions

1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.





2. Update the engine control unit 1 (J623), engine control unit 2 (J624) and the gearbox control unit (J217) using SVM action code as listed in the table above if necessary.
