Seat rail cover, installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
CAUTION!
• Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.
• Before handling any airbag units (for example, when disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
• Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.
- Switch on ignition.
CAUTION!
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Connect battery ground cable with ignition switched on.
- If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.
Sill Side Trim and Assembly Cover
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim removal wedge (3409)
• Removal and installation of assembly cover can be performed when seat is installed.
Removing
- Position (3409) at bottom center of assembly cover - 1 -.
- Remove assembly cover - 1 -.
- Remove assembly cover - 1 - in - direction of arrow - from rear sill side trim - 2 -.
Installation
To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order.
Front and rear sill side trim, removing and installing
Removing

- Remove front seat.
- Attach front seat to (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on Seat Repair Tool ] Front Seat, Installing on Seat Repair Tool.
- Remove assembly cover.
- Disengage strap - arrow - for cover - 1 - on seat pan upper frame - 2 -.
- Disengage retaining strip - 1 - on footwell cover - 2 - from brackets - 4 - (quantity: 2) rear sill side trim - 3 -.
- Remove expanding rivets - 2 - (quantity: 2).
1. Rear sill side trim
- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.
- Disengage rear sill side trim - 2 - upward at rear retaining bracket - 4 -.
- Separate rear sill side trim - 2 - from front sill side trim - 9 - by turning in - direction of arrow -.
- Pull front sill side trim - 9 - forward in order to disengage eyes - 7 - from front retaining bracket - 5 -.
- Disengage front sill side trim - 9 - upward at brackets - 6 - (quantity: 2).
- Open locking mechanism - 8 -.
- Disconnect connector - 10 - (quantity: 3).
- Remove front sill-side trim - 9 -.
Installation
Installation is in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Tunnel-Side Trim
Removing

- Remove front seat.

- Unclip clip - 4 - on belt webbing - 1 -.
- Unclip clip - 3 - on belt webbing - 2 -.
- Disengage grip channel - 1 - on footwell cover - 2 - from brackets - 4 - (quantity: 2) on tunnel side trim - 3 -.
- Remove expanding rivets - 2 - (quantity: 2).
- Remove tunnel side trim panel - 1 - upward.
Installation

- Remove front retaining bracket - 2 - from seat pan upper frame - 3 -.

- Remove rear retaining bracket - 4 - from seat pan upper frame - 2 - and backrest - 3 -.

- Remove tunnel side rear trim panel.
- Remove tunnel side trim pane. Refer to l => [ Tunnel-Side Trim ].
- Remove the backrest - 3 -. Refer to => [ Front Backrest ].
- Remove spacer ring - 2 -.
- Remove upper retaining bracket - 1 - from seat pan upper frame - 4 -.
Installation

Seat Adjustment Actuator
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim removal wedge (3409)
• The seat adjustment actuator can be removed and installed with front seat installed.
Removing
- Using (3409), pry actuator - 1 - from retainer for:
• Seat Fore/Aft Adjustment Button (E418)
• Inclination Adjustment Button (E421)
• Seat Height Adjustment Button (E424)
Installation
To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order.
Backrest Adjustment Actuator
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim removal wedge (3409)
• The backrest adjustment actuator can be removed and installed with front seat installed.
Removing
- Using (3409), pry actuator - 1 - out of catch on Backrest Adjustment Button (E425).
Installation
To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order.
Front Backrest
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim removal wedge (3409)
• The removal and installation procedure describes a driver seat. The procedure for the front passenger seat is identical.
Removing

• Before handling any airbag units (for example, when disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Remove front seat.
- Attach front seat to (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on Seat Repair Tool ] Front Seat, Installing on Seat Repair Tool.
- Remove sill side trim and assembly cover.
- Remove tunnel side trim panel.
- Remove corrugated pipe and wires from front seat to connector station. Refer to => [ Modular Wire Routing with Corrugated Tube on Front Seat ] Modular Wire Routing with Corrugated Tube on Front Seat.
- Remove bolts - 2 - (quantity: 4).
- Tilt the backrest - 3 - forward onto the seat pan - 1 -.
- Press upholstery to side and carefully remove side airbag wire - 4 - and, if necessary, all other wiring harnesses - 5 - and - 6 - present (depending on equipment version) from seat pan.
- Remove backrest - 3 -.
Installation
Installation is in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

• Before handling any airbag units (for example, when disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Threaded bolt holes - 2 - must always be cleaned (for example, with thread cutter).
- Replace bolts - 2 - (quantity: 4) after each removal.
- Make sure the upper and lower part of corrugated pipe fit together precisely.
• Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.
- Switch on ignition.
