Instrument Panel, Separating from Central Tube

Disassembling

Install all cable ties that were loosened or cut off during removal in the same positions.

- Remove instrument panel => [ Instrument Panel ] Instrument Panel.

- Set down instrument panel with central tube on to a soft surface.

- Unclip cover cap - 1 - using a feeler gauge 0.35 mm - 2 - out of center defroster vent - arrow -.





- Pry out Sunlight Photo Sensor (G107) - item 3 - and disconnect harness connector.

- Remove bolt - 1 -.





- As depicted in the illustration, pry center defroster vent - 2 - out of instrument panel using trim removal wedge (3409).

- Push retaining spring in - direction of arrow - using a screwdriver and remove cover cap - 2 - from heating channel.





- Remove the bolts - 1 -.

- Unscrew bolts - arrows - on right side of instrument panel.





- In the area of the instrument cluster, pull off felt from instrument panel at outer corners.





- Unscrew bolts - arrows - on left side of instrument panel.

- Set down instrument panel with top side on to a soft surface.





CAUTION!
Observe safety precautions for working on airbags => [ Airbag Safety Precautions ] Airbag Safety Precautions.

- Remove nuts - 1 - and - 2 -.

- Remove front passenger's airbag from instrument cluster.

- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 - on bracket for front passenger's airbag.





- Cut cable tie on relay and fuse carrier mount on the driver's side.





- Remove wiring harness on front passenger's side from bracket on central tube.

- Remove central tube from instrument panel.

Assembling





Assembling is reverse of removal, noting the following:

All cable ties should be re-installed in same positions.

Replace self-locking nuts and screws when assembling.

- Secure bolts - 1 - and - 2 - with securing paint.
