Rear Brakes Assembly Overview, All Models and Ceramic Brakes

Only install complete repair kit.






1 - Bolt

Self-locking

Torque specification: 12 Nm

2 - Electromechanical Parking Brake Actuator

Electromechanical parking brake control module, removing and installing, refer to => [ Electromechanical Parking Brake Control Module ] Electromechanical Parking Brake Control Module.

Actuator, removing and installing, refer to => [ Electromechanical Parking Brake Actuator ] Electromechanical Parking Brake Actuator.

3 - Bolt

Self-locking

Torque specification: 35 Nm

Always replace

When loosening and tightening, counter-hold at guide pin.

4 - Brake Caliper

Do not unscrew brake hose when replacing brake pad.

Brake caliper, servicing, refer to => [ Rear Brake Caliper Piston ] Rear Brake Caliper Piston.

5 - Brake Pads

Must always be replaced together on both sides of vehicle.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Rear Brake Pads ] Brake Pad.

6 - Anti-Rattle Spring

Always replace when pads are replaced.

7 - Brake Disc

Must always be replaced together on both sides of vehicle.

Remove brake caliper before removing.

Only tighten evenly on both sides based on thickness in new condition. Refer to => [ Brakes ] Brakes.

Brake disc allocation, refer to => [ Brakes ] Brakes.

8 - Ribbed Bolt

Torque specification: 140 Nm

M12 x 1.5 x 75

Always replace

To tighten lower connection, adjust Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332) to 125 Nm. This torque specification applies only in conjunction with insert tool (T40036).

9 - Brake Carrier with Guide Pins and Protective Cap

Supplied as an assembled replacement part with sufficient grease on guide pins.

If protective caps or guide pins are damaged, install repair kit. Use grease packet supplied to lubricate guide pins.

10 - Brake Line

Tightening specification: 14 Nm

Do not disconnect brake line when changing brake pads.

11 - Retaining Spring

Make sure that retaining tab is seated correctly inside the bracket.
