Wheel Hub and Bearing






Wheel Hub and Bearing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench (40-200 Nm) (VAG 1332)

Removing

- Place the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on the Hoist and on its Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on the Hoist and on its Wheels.

- Remove the drive axle. Refer to => [ Drive Axle ] Drive Axle.

- Remove the brake caliper and secure it to the body using wire.

- Remove the brake disc.

- Remove the wheel hub and bearing bolts - arrows -.





- Remove the wheel hub and bearing from the wheel bearing housing.

CAUTION!
Avoid contaminating with dirt and damaging the seal when setting down/storing.

The wheel hub and bearing washer - 1 - must always face up.





- Always set the wheel hub and bearing down on the wheel hub - 2 -.

Installing

Installation is the reverse of removal, with special attention to the following:

During assembly, make sure no pressure points form on the air spring damper boot.

- Tighten the wheel hub and bearing bolts - arrows -. Refer to - item 19 - in => [ Wheel Hub, Bearing and Housing Assembly Overview ] Wheel Hub, Bearing and Housing Assembly Overview.





- Install the brake disc and caliper.

- Install the drive axle. Refer to => [ Drive Axle ] Drive Axle.

- Install the wheel and tighten.

- Place the vehicle on its wheels. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on the Hoist and on its Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on the Hoist and on its Wheels.
