Tightening Specifications

The tightening specifications apply only to lightly greased, oiled, phosphated or blackened nuts and bolts.

Additional lubricant such as engine or transmission oil may be used, but do not use graphite lubricant.

Do not use any ungreased parts.

Tightening specification tolerance +/- 15%.

Procedure

Installation is carried out in the reverse order while noting the following:

Engine mounted on (T10359).

Replace self-locking nuts and bolts.

Always replace bolts that are tightened to torque as well as O-rings and gaskets.

Secure all hose connections with hose clamps of the same type as those equipped by the factory. Refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

During installation, cable ties must be installed at the same location.

- If no alignment sleeves for center the engine and transmission are present in cylinder block, insert sleeves.

- Make sure the intermediate plate is engaged on the sealing flange and slid onto the guide sleeves - arrows -.






- Attach transmission to engine.

- Guide the engine/transmission subassembly into the body.

- Then install engine mounting to engine support bolts - arrows - and tighten by hand.






- Install the transmission mount bolts in the transmission bracket - arrows - and tighten them by hand.






Only tighten the bolts to the specification when installing the subframe mount. Refer to => [ Fastener Tightening Specifications ] Fastener Tightening Specifications.

- Remove the (T10359) from the engine.

- Install the drive axle heat shield.

- Install the control arms and drive axles.

- Install the pendulum support. Refer to => [ Subframe Assembly Overview ] Subframe Assembly Overview.






- Installing the front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter. Refer to => [ Front Exhaust Pipe with Catalytic Converters and Front Muffler ] Service and Repair.

- Install the exhaust system free of stress. Refer to => [ Exhaust System, Aligning ] Service and Repair.

- Install after-run coolant pump (V51). Refer to => [ After-Run Coolant Pump (V51) ] After-Run Coolant Pump (V51).

- Install the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor.

- Install the fan shroud. Refer to => [ Fan Shroud ] Service and Repair.

- Install the ribbed belt. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.

- Install the starter.

- Install throttle valve control module (J338).

- Adjust the subframe mount. Refer to => [ Subframe Mount, Adjusting ] Adjustments.

- Electrical connectors and wiring routing.

- Be sure to follow the procedure for connecting the battery and afterwards.

- Install the windshield wiper arms.

- Check oil level.

There is a risk of destroying control modules with excess voltage.

Do not use a charger as a starting aid.

- Fill the coolant. Refer to => [ Filling: ] Service and Repair.

Do not use drained coolant in the following situations:

If the cylinder head or cylinder block was replaced.

If the coolant is contaminated.
