Removing

- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (ND) wire. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

Risk of destroying if the running direction of a used ribbed belt is reversed.

Before removing ribbed belt, marking running direction with chalk or a felt-tip pen for reinstallation.

- Tilt tensioner in - direction of arrow - to relieve ribbed belt tension and secure with (T10060 A).

- Remove ribbed belt.

- Remove right front wheel.

- Remove center noise insulation loosening fasteners - 1 through 4 -.

- Remove right noise insulation - arrows -.

- Disconnect magnetic clutch electrical connector - 1 - on A/C compressor and free up electrical wire.

Risk of injury from refrigerant.

Do not open A/C refrigerant circuit.

- Remove A/C compressor bolts - arrows -.

- Secure A/C compressor with connected refrigerant hoses to front of noise insulation frame.

- If equipped, remove the cap and disconnect the electrical wire - 1 - from the generator.

- Disconnect electrical connector - 2 -.

Disregard item - 3 -.

- Remove upper idler pulley - 1 -.

- Loosen generator bolts - 2 and 3 - approximately 6 turns.

- Using a hammer, carefully hit bolt heads to loosen generator mount bushings.

- Remove bolts completely.

To remove generator from engine compartment, rotate it so belt pulley faces up.

- Remove generator downward.

Installing

Tightening specification. Refer to => [ Generator Overview ] Generator Overview.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Because the clamping force of a tight bushing is too low despite correct torque, bushings must be loosened.

All assemblies (generator, A/C compressor) must be installed securely before installing ribbed belt.

- Drive retaining bolt bushings back slightly for easier generator installation.

- Install the A/C compressor.

- Install ribbed belt:

1. Idler pulley

2. Vibration damper

3. Coolant pump

4. Tension roller

5. Generator

6. Idler pulley

7. A/C Compressor

- Check ribbed belt for correct seating.

- Connect battery. Refer to => [ Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- Start the engine and make sure the belt is running correctly.
