Heater Control Module Functions

• A/C system functions ( A/C control module (J301) ), refer to Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS5051B) under "Guided Fault Finding".

• Rear window defogger (Z1) activation, refer to => [ Heated Rear Window (Z1) ] Description and Operation

• Function of air recirculation button and activation of Fresh/Recirculating Air Door Motor (V154) => [ Fresh/Recirculation Air Door Mode Button and Motor (V154) Activation ] Fresh/Recirculation Air Door Mode Button and Motor (V154) Activation.

• Testing of seat heater (optional equipment) activation, refer to => [ Seat Heater Activation, Testing ] Seat Heater Activation, Testing.

• Activation of Engine Control Module (ECM) (in vehicles with gasoline direct fuel injection engine FSI and/or with an engine with diagram-mapped cooling, refer to => [ Engine Control Module (ECM) Activation, Testing ] Engine Control Module (ECM) Activation, Testing.

• Auxiliary heater activation (vehicles without A/C), refer to => [ Auxiliary Air Heater Heating Element (Z35) Activation, Testing (Without A/C) ] Auxiliary Air Heater Heating Element (Z35) Activation, Testing (Without A/C).

• The belt pulley will control 2 belts. Only A/C control modules (J301) with part number 8P0 820 047, starting with index letter D may be installed in a vehicle with a manually controlled A/C system. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
